Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal reached into his own ranks today to select a Chief Civil Deputy. Anthony Stubbs, a fifteen year employee of the Sheriff’s Office, will oversee all civil functions of the Office, including budget, sales and use tax collections, property tax collections, tax disbursements, purchasing and accounts payable.
A 2001 graduate of Pine High School, Stubbs was employed by then Sheriff Duane Blair as a student worker in January 2001. He became a full-time employee in 2003 under former Sheriff Aubrey Jones while studying at Southeastern Louisiana University, receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting in May 2006. He graduated from the Slidell Regional Police Academy in March 2007.
During his career under several different administrations, Stubbs held a variety of jobs, including Sales and Use Tax Auditor, Grants Manager, Sales and Use Tax Director, Fixed Asset Manager, Accountant, Juvenile Investigator, General Investigator, Evidence Officer, Internal Affairs Investigator, and Purchasing Director. In May 2014, Sheriff Seal transferred him to the Accounting Division.
“The Sheriff’s Office has operated for three and a half years without a Chief Civil Deputy,” said Sheriff Seal. “CPA Mike Burris was engaged as a contract accountant in July 2012 to sort through the financial quagmire we inherited and to establish a sound financial structure for the Office. Over the past eighteen months, he has gradually turned finance responsibilities over to Anthony Stubbs who is imminently qualified to lead our civil division. Anthony will provide outstanding leadership for us while providing financial integrity and accountability.”
Stubbs will join Sheriff Seal’s management team which includes Chief Deputy Mike Haley and Deputy Chief Shannon Lyons.
